Admiral Farragut Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of a new head football coach, Ryan Hearn. Hearn was selected after a national search in which we received over 70 resumes.
Coach Hearn was one of our top three candidates back in January; however, negotiations fell through at the time. Hearn earned his B.A. in Sociology from the University of South Florida in 2003. After serving as a team captain of the football team there, he immediately began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with the USF Bulls from 2003-2005. From there he was named an assistant coach (wide receivers, tight ends) and recruiting coordinator at The Citadel Military College in Charleston, SC, a position held from 2005-2010. Values learned at The Citadel will translate perfectly at Admiral Farragut Academy.
In 2010, Ryan returned home to Florida and took over the program at West Port High School in Ocala. This was a team that had only 3 wins in the previous 4 seasons before his arrival. In his three years at the helm, West Port High amassed 15 wins in a tough 8A district and has sent several student athletes to colleges. He comes to us with a wonderful reputation, a disciplined program and is well known in the college recruiting world.
Hearn received his Masters in Adult Education from the University of South Florida in 2012.
He will be a great addition to the athletic department and we are proud to have him on board.
If you would like to meet Coach Hearn and his staff, Homecoming 2013 is a great opportunity to do so. In order to make Homecoming Alumni Weekend a success, we need you and your classmates to come “home” to Admiral Farragut Academy to fill out stands, and cheer our Bluejackets onto victory.
