The Boarding School Experience

One of the great rewards of a boarding/day school is many of our students and faculty living where they learn and teach. We offer the 5 and 7 day boarding program to students in grades 7-12 with most of our boarding students being in grades 9-12.

All aspects of daily life -- academic, athletic, artistic, recreational and residential -- are pursued among our close-knit community of students and teachers. The residential aspect of boarding school life offers a unique global learning experience for everyone. On average, our students come from over 16 states,  the US Virgin Islands, and more than 20 countries. Our boarders comprise over 40% of our Middle and High School population.

our dorms

  • 2 to 3 students per dorm room and roommates are decided based on grade level, common interests, and diversity.
  • Female and male dorms are separated by alarmed doors at all times and use separate staircases.
  • Each room has it’s own bathroom (most schools have community bathrooms), is air conditioned, wireless internet access, and many have waterfront views.
  • Teachers, staff, and coaches live with the students in the dormitories or in apartments above the Alumni & Development Center.
  • Dormitory comprises of the second and third floor in historic Farragut Hall (which used to be a prestigious hotel called Jungle Prada back in the 1920's) and is continually being renovated, yet preserved.
  • Farragut is a gated community with 24/7 campus security and is located in a family-friendly neighborhood.
  • Daily Monday-Thursday, rooms are inspected and graded for cleanliness and organization. Room failure or poor scores will result in demerits and possible restriction of leaving campus (liberty) and attending campus activities. If a room receives a certain amount of demerits they may also have to attend Saturday detention as a punishment in which the student must wake up early and do tasks given to them by our disciplinary.

meals

Three well-balanced hot meals are served daily to our boarders while only lunch is available to our day students. The menu consists of a hot buffet, salad bar, deli bar, soup of the day, fruits, a dessert, and many beverage options. Click here for our Dining Menu, thanks to Sage Dining Services.
