What does this mean? High School students (grades 9-12) participate in the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Program and are enrolled in Naval Science courses which meet one period a day. All Middle & High School students (grades 6-12) drill as a battalion once a week.
Although there is a minimum participation that is required, most students like to take advantage of the sailing and advanced leadership opportunities, rifle range, and off-campus trips to air shows, Naval bases and ships.
Exhibition Drill Team & Color Guard Our Drill Team and Color Guard compete regularly in statewide competitions and are well known for their excellence.
The Farragut High School and Middle School Drill Teams performed as well as the Purdue Drill Team. After each team performed, they formed teams comprised of members of each of the three teams, giving all teams the opportunity to march together. The crown jewel of the performance was a mass drill team comprised of all of our teams marching as one!
The Admiral Farragut Academy Exhibition Drill Team has performed extensively both nationally and locally. This past week they visited the Daytime Show to perform and teach co-hosts, Jerry and Cyndi.
As our Drill Team exited the field to a continuing ovation, they were greeted by dozens of congratulations by spectators, officials, and participants. One of the event organizers stated that ours was the "...finest drill team they had ever seen."
On Saturday afternoon, April 13th, the Purdue Drill Team will perform, followed by performances by the AFA High School and Middle School Exhibition Drill Teams. All of the teams will then combine into one mass team to perform.
Congratulations Julia! The program pairs incoming freshmen with campus leaders, faculty and staff to explore the dynamics of leadership, their own leadership style, and is built around academic coursework and Elon's highly successful leadership development program.
