Mission Statement                                                                           

The  mission of the Aviation Academy at Farragut is to support the mission of Admiral Farragut Academy through instruction of aeronautical science.  To instill a lifelong love of learning by providing safe, professional flight and ground instruction to students interested in pursuing a career in the field of aviation.

  • Personalized instruction from qualified instructors

  • 2 hours allotted during the academic day for flight training
  • Small, easily accessible towered airport
  • Established, successful and safe Fixed Base operator supplies Cessna 172 G1000 aircraft
  • St. Petersburg area has over 361 days of sunshine per year, great for flying!
  • Advanced aviation training aircraft, C172 G1000
  • PCATD (flight simulator with Elite software)
  • Smartboard in classroom
  • Scheduling and transportation to and from the airport included in program cost
  • Numerous CD-ROM and DVD educational programs

  1. Aeronautical Science degrees
  2. Airline transport pilot, advanced ground instructor
  3. Commercial pilot Multi-Engine Instrument, CFI
  4. Embry-Riddle graduate
  5. Retired Airline captain (Eastern)
  6. Over 70 years of combined aviation experience
  • Successful pilot training program for over 11 years
  • Graduates go on to pursue Aviation careers
  • Over 300 students have received some form of flight instruction over the past 11 years
  • Private Pilot program available to students turning 17 before end of school year
  • Aviation courses offered from 6th to 12th grade
  • State of the art on-campus aviation ground school facility
  • Maximum 5:1 Student to instructor ratio in private pilot ground course
