Naval Science (NJROTC)

The Naval Science Department is responsible for the administration of the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Unit at Admiral Farragut Academy. In addition to the administration of the Unit, Naval Science personnel teach Naval Science Courses and operate the Rifle Range and Waterfront.

Each Upper Division cadet is enrolled in Naval Science which meets one period a day, and all cadets, in grades 6-12, drill as a battalion once a week. Although there is a minimum participation that is required, most cadets like to take advantage of the sailing and riflery offered, the advanced leadership opportunities, as well as off-campus trips to air shows, Naval bases & ships, and camping excursions.

Our drill teams and color guards compete regularly in State wide competitions and are well known for their excellence. It is the EXPERIENCE and OPPORTUNITY that is so attractive to all of our cadets.
