History & Tradition
Founded in 1933 on the banks of the Toms River in Pine Beach, New Jersey, Admiral Farragut Academy was and still is a college-preparatory, military style school. The Academy is named after Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, the first U.S. Naval officer to rise to that rank. Over the Academy's first twelve years, it became so popular that a second campus was purchased in 1945 on the shores of Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida. Seventy-five years later it is this southern campus that not only continues the traditions established in 1933, but leads the way for the college bound young men and women of the 21st century.
The traditions of a broad and rigorous curriculum to build the mind, numerous athletics and outdoor activities to build the body, and a mandatory NJROTC Program (High School) to build the spirit continue to make an Admiral Farragut Academy education a high priority for families throughout St. Petersburg, Florida, the nation and the world.
