Graduation

Dear Alumni,

Graduation is just around the corner. On the morning of May 17, 2008 the 74th Graduating Class of Admiral Farragut Academy will receive their diplomas. This is the highlight of each academic year by the graduating cadets and their families. This year, we will graduate 61 cadets who will continue their educational endeavors at colleges and universities all across the land. This has been an outstanding year for Service Academy Appointments and ROTC scholarships. The class of 2008 has set a school record in this key area.

Over 19% of the senior class have been selected and many cadets received more than one appointment or scholarship. Bold letters indicate the offer each cadet intends to accept.

The following cadets have received appointments and/or scholarships:

Assuming a dollar value of $325,000 for each Service Academy Appointment and $175,000 for each ROTC Scholarship, the Class of 2008 has earned over $4.7 Million in military scholarships!

The results could be even higher since we are awaiting the results of two cadets who also have nominations to service academies.

Annual Naval Science Inspection

We just completed our annual Naval Inspection by the United States Navy. This year, conducted by CDR Dirk Hebert, USN. We are happy to announce the results of CDR Hebert’s inspection indicate that Admiral Farragut Academy has earned the top Navy evaluation for schools inspected by the Department of the Navy. This guarantees AFA will retain its long-standing ranking as a US Naval Honor School. We are very proud of our Naval Science Department, headed by CAPT Tom McClelland USN (RET). His staff, includes CWO Bill Schuyler USN (RET), CPO Jack Blasko USN (RET), and COL Charles Lohman, USMC (RET), continues to do an excellent job in teaching the dynamics of our Naval Science Program. Farragut is highly respected throughout the world for its blending of its strong academic and naval science programs. Here are some pictures of this year’s Naval Inspection.
