Admiral Farragut Academy is an independent co-educational boarding/day school located on Boca Ciega Bay, in the Southwest corner of St. Petersburg, Florida. Students at Admiral Farragut Academy are part of a dynamic community, which prides itself on learning, leadership and service. At AFA we are dedicated to educating students in preparation for college, while instilling values of leadership and character through a military model. We accomplish this through challenging academic and NJROTC programs, with instruction provided by our talented academic and naval science faculties. AFA's strong college preparatory curriculum provides a traditional liberal arts education, preparing students to go on to study at leading colleges, universities and service academies.
One of the great rewards of boarding school is living where you learn. Academic life at AFA is supplemented by a wide variety of athletics, arts programs, and club activities. Finally, the residential aspect of boarding school life offers a unique global learning experience. All aspects of daily life -- academic, athletic, artistic, recreational and residential -- are pursued among our close-knit community of students and teachers.
AFA admits day students in grades PK-4 through grade 12 and boarding students in grades 6 - 12, with the greatest number of new students matriculating in their PK4, 6th, 9th and 10th grade years. Each year we receive approximately 850 inquiries for openings at AFA. Our admissions officers devote careful attention to each candidate, assessing academic potential and records, behavior and deportment, as well as individual achievements and interests.
To complete the AFA admissions process, each candidate must have an interview, complete an application, and submit transcripts for the past three academic years along with the most current standardized test scores and teacher recommendations.
