Welcome, I am Jeff Magnoli, and I am the director of admissions. I am also responsible for national and local recruitment, as well as Financial Assistance. I have been a private school educator and administrator since 1979. I grew up in Washington, Connecticut. I graduated from the Kent School in Kent, CT and earned my B.F.A. in acting and directing from Central Connecticut State University. During my tenure as a boarding school department head, I earned my M.A.L.S. (mathematics) from Wesleyan University.
I came to work for AFA in July of 2006. I love my job because assisting families with the daunting task of finding the "right" fit for their students is a noble undertaking, and I believe whole heartedly in Admiral Farragut’s mission. I am also happy that I found a school that fits my personal hairstyle. I live off campus with my wife, my college aged son and my daughter who is class of 2010 at AFA.

Hola, I am Gretchen Herbst, and I am an assistant director of admissions responsible for international recruitment. I am a graduate of Shorecrest Preparatory School, right here in St. Petersburg, and Florida Atlantic University where I earned my degree in Communications with a minor in Spanish. Before coming to work for AFA in December of 2004, I lived, worked and traveled in Europe and Mexico.
I enjoy my job at AFA because I have the opportunity to embrace three of my life’s passions: international travel, meeting new and interesting people and swimming (I coach the varsity swim team). I live on campus and monitor middle school study hall once a week. Go Bluejackets!

Hello, I am Joy Edwards, the administrative assistant for admissions. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Florida, where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration. Prior to my arrival at Admiral Farragut Academy in 2004, I held management positions with the American Red Cross, Allstate Insurance Company, The Florida Running Festival and Running USA.
I am a board member and youth leader for my church, and I serve as the adult staff advisor at AFA for the Fellowship of Christian Students Club. My hobbies are reading and physical fitness. My heart for young people and my passion to work with, nurture, and help them makes working at AFA a perfect fit for me.
