Admiral Farragut Academy provides education from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, with full Naval Junior ROTC status in grades 9-12 and military exposure in grades 6-8.
Upper Division: Grades 9 through
12
Middle Division: Grades 6 through 8
Lower Division: Pre-kindergarten through 5
Grades 9 through 12
The Upper Division has three basic goals:
Our science classes offer extensive labs, our foreign language classes are rigorous and thorough, and our English classes require grade-level writing and outside reading, including summer reading.
The Naval Science Department is responsible for the administration of the NJROTC Unit at Admiral Farragut Academy. In addition to the administration of the Unit, Naval Science personnel teach Naval Science Courses and operate the Rifle Range and Waterfront. School regulations require that all Upper Division cadets be enrolled in the NJROTC.
Grades 6 through 8
The aim of the Middle Division is to ensure that cadets will be ready for the rigorous college-prep curriculum they will master in the Upper Division. All Middle Division cadets take Math, Social Studies, Science, English, and Physical Education. In addition, they choose from more than ten electives. Classroom sizes rarely exceed fifteen cadets. In grade eight, cadets of exceptional academic ability may qualify to enroll in an Upper Division class.
Pre-kindergarten through Grade 5
Lower Division classes are self-contained and structured, with no military emphasis. Lower Division curriculum follows FCIS guidelines. Student-centered curriculum consists of Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Spanish, Technology Skills, Music, Art, Library Skills, and Physical Education. Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, After-Care program, and various clubs are offered after school.
