Since coming to Farragut in 1989, I have seen monumental change in almost every conceivable area of the school. My first year saw roughly 180 students; this year we have over 400 students.
In recent years we have added a Lower Division, and now the Academy serves the educational needs of students pre-kindergarten through the twelfth grade.
I’ve seen considerable improvements to our physical plant, the quality and diversity of our faculty, the depth of our curriculum, and the sheer amount of enriching opportunities we provide. We have grown with the times, but we have stayed true to ourselves.
As an Honor Naval School, we still observe the customs and traditions of the United States Navy, and place a high premium on structure, self-discipline, respect, and honor.
At Admiral Farragut Academy, our mission stands upon three pillars. The first is academic excellence, which one can see from the caring nature of our faculty, to our small class sizes, to both rigorous and remedial course offerings, to the quality and variety of enriching programs such as aeronautical training, sailing, Mandarin Chinese instruction, SCUBA certification, and sponsored trips to Europe and South America. For those students who need specific academic support, our Learning Center with its ESOL program exists to serve their needs.

Our second pillar is leadership, which has been a hallmark of the Academy since its inception in 1933. While the most obvious example of leadership training comes from our NJROTC Battalion and myriad opportunities that exist within it, we also have a thriving student government, community service clubs, and other organizations where students can learn to take responsibility not only for themselves but also for their community as a whole.
Our third pillar is a commitment to social development. Using a military model – a model that has worked successfully for thousands of years – our students are taught integrity, honor, self-discipline, and commitment.
These three pillars are interwoven throughout the fabric of the school, and are not specific to any particular grade or division. Whether in first grade or as a graduating senior, we expect from our students a commitment to academics, to leadership, to their own personal development, and a respect for their school, their family, their society, and their country.
I invite you to visit our campus and see what we’re all about. Please do not hesitate to contact us and see if Admiral Farragut Academy is right for you. We are here to help and look forward to you becoming part of our family.
Yours Most Respectfully,
Captain Robert J. Fine, Jr.
